Shocking incident in Santander as another reckless driver causes chaos on the roads

SANTANDER, April 1

A 23-year-old female driver, under the influence of alcohol, veered off course in Santander on Sunday and collided with a building.

The accident took place just before 6:00 p.m. on Alto de los Leones street, resulting in only material damages.

Members of the Accident Investigation Unit of the Santander Police conducted a Technical Report of the accident and requested the driver to undergo a breathalyzer test, which revealed that she exceeded the legal alcohol limit by more than three times.

As a result, legal proceedings were initiated against the driver, as a suspect, for a suspected offense against road safety. The vehicle was towed by a city crane to the municipal impound in Ojaiz, as reported by the Local Police in a statement.

The night before, around 11:30 p.m., a collision involving two vehicles occurred on Cardenal Herrera Oria street, damaging two other parked cars in the area.

The officers who attended the scene conducted breathalyzer tests on the drivers involved, and one of them—a 46-year-old man—tested positive for alcohol, exceeding the legal limit by three times. Consequently, legal proceedings were initiated against him, as a suspect, for a suspected offense against road safety. His vehicle was also towed to the municipal impound.

In the early hours of Sunday, the Local Police caught a driver on La Enseñanza street in Santander driving with an expired ITV and no insurance.

Upon identifying the driver, it was discovered that his Driving License had been suspended due to the total loss of assigned points, ordered by the Cantabria Traffic Headquarters. Legal proceedings were initiated against him, as a suspect, for a suspected offense against road safety.

The vehicle, which was reported for driving without an ITV and no insurance, was towed to the municipal impound.

On a different note, in the early hours of Friday, an 18-year-old young man was injured after his moped collided with a car on Camilo Alonso Vega street.

He was assisted by the Accident Investigation Unit of the Santander Police, who produced a Technical Report of the incident and later transported him to Valdecilla Hospital for medical treatment of his injuries.
